The Calgary International Film Festival announced another selection of films that will be screening at the 16th Annual Calgary International Film Festival. On Sunday, August 16 CIFF will announce the full Late Shows series lineup, and celebrate with a free screening of BAD MILO, a CIFF 2013 favourite, at The Ship & Anchor Pub.

The second wave of film announcements includes:
BEEBA BOYS (Headliner Series) Deepa Mehta’s Indian gangster film set on the streets of Vancouver.

THE FORBIDDEN ROOM (Canadian Cinema Series) Guy Maddin’s surreal look at stories exploring themes of life, love and dreams.

BAND OF ROBBERS (New American Cinema Series) Mark Twain’s Huck Finn and Tom Sawyer reimagined for modern times.

THE LOBSTER (World Cinema Series) An oddly funny and surreal thriller where people of the near-future are doomed to be transformed into animals if they can't find love.

FRACTURED LAND (Documentary Series) FRACTURED LAND follows Caleb Behn, an Aboriginal leader and lawyer, as he struggles to protect his northern British Columbia territory and its people, currently under siege from some of the world's largest natural gas and fracking operations.

MADE IN JAPAN (Music on Screen Series) A crowd-pleasing documentary about Tomi Fujiyama, Japan’s first female country music star.

THEY LOOK LIKE PEOPLE (Late Show Series) First-time director Perry Blackshear pushes the American indie to new territory with this paranoid thriller.
