With over 175 films and 40+ countries represented, CIFF is thrilled to announce the 2020 Calgary International Film Festival lineup of the year’s most groundbreaking and must-see movies!

Featuring a diverse range of genres and stories from around the world, these six films - of which five are announced today - reflect the state of indie art cinema curated through a youth perspective for audiences young and old. 

"It’s been an incredibly strong year for local film. With 111 Alberta film submissions, it was by far the largest number we've had to consider. To show off our local crews, writers, directors and Alberta locations, we created a brand new feature and short film section, Alberta Spotlight. In addition to our in-cinema screenings in Calgary, we’re delighted to share these films with new audiences across the whole Province with online streaming” said Brenda Lieberman, CIFF’s Lead Programmer. 

CIFF is proud to present a new hybrid model of in-cinema and at-home programming for the 21st Annual Calgary International Film Festival. And with it, new ticket bundle options that can be used interchangeably - in audience’s homes or at the festival venues -  during the festival

As excitement mounts for the 92^nd Academy Awards, preparations for Calgary International Film Festival’s biggest fundraising event is underway. 

CIFF is excited to announce the addition of the new Centrepiece Gala and film, the second Closing Gala screening, the return of Behind the Screen (BTS) plus many Q&A guests.

CIFF is hosting a scavenger hunt September 14th in partnership with calgarymovies.com and Walk The YYC to showcase the city's history in film.
