Renowned French filmmaker Alain Guiraudie returns to the director’s chair with MISERICORDIA. Guiraudie's previous works include STAYING VERTICAL and STRANGER BY THE LAKE, which earned him the Best Director prize at Cannes in 2013.
The film follows Jérémie (Félix Kysyl), who returns to Saint-Martial for his former boss's funeral and stays with his widow, Martine (Catherine Frot). A mysterious disappearance, a menacing neighbour, and a peculiar priest soon unravel a gripping tale during his short stay.
Featuring a strong cast and exploring familiar themes of rural settings, homosexual desire and working-class representation, MISERICORDIA’s multi-layered story uniquely blends complicated emotions within a detective story.
