Summer break. For aspiring young playwright Griffin Nafly, this means it's time to stage another dramatic new play, this time an ambitious cross between "Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf" and "American Beauty". However, his fellow tweeners are starting to get distracted by things like "fun" and "boys", so Griffin's attention shifts toward the hunky handyman Brad (Owen Teague) doing light renos at his house. Finding himself utterly smitten, but also seeing in Brad a kindred creative spirit, Griffin embarks on a potentially life-changing summer.
With big laughs and stellar performances - including a star-making performance from the amazing Everett Blunck, and the always-phenomenal Melanie Lynskey as Griffin's mom - first-time feature filmmaker Nicholas Colia explores the awkwardness of young, unrequited love in a way that's both hilarious and poignant.
