On the edge of the Gobi desert in Northwest China, Lang returns to his hometown after being released from jail. While working for the local dog patrol team to clear the town of stray dogs before the Olympic Games, he strikes up an unlikely connection with a black dog. These two lonely souls now embark on a new journey together.
BLACK DOG blends dark humour with a deep, moving, and highly cinematic story about a troubled man who bonds with a troubled dog and finds redemption in the process.
Directed by Guan Hu, BLACK DOG was took home two major prizes at Cannes 2024, both winner of the Un Certain Regard competition, along with the incredible canine performance by Xin (beautiful greyhound) winning the Grand Prix Palme Dog award.
