Twentysomething Hailey (Em Haine, FARGO) ran away from her mother (Kari Matchett, MAUDIE CIFF 2016) and her coastal Nova Scotia hometown a decade ago. She finds herself unemployed and running out of excuses as to why she shouldn’t move in with her partner. Then Hailey's frantic sister Rose (Caitlynne Medrek, FARGO, HEARTLAND) calls with news compelling her to come home - only to discover a stunning surprise.
Before Hailey can return to her protected life out west, she must face some startling truths – about her parents, the effects of her sudden departure on her sister and closest friends, and the fate of one rundown old fishing boat. It's a comically tragic and heartwarming tale about running away, facing your past, and accepting your loved ones, old and new.
Director and writer Sandi Somers' (ICE BLUE CIFF 2017) much anticipated sophomore film is a fun, brightly executed, family dynamic dramedy filled with quirky characters and the sometimes-explosive drama that ensues. When you mix your past with your present, only then can you seek resolution, happiness, and even closure with what life brings.
