Takumi and his daughter Hana live in Mizubiki Village, close to Tokyo. Like generations before them, they live a modest life according to the cycles and order of nature. One day, the village inhabitants become aware of a plan to build a "glamping" site near Takumi’s house. When company representatives arrive in the village to hold a meeting, it becomes clear that the project will have a negative impact on the locals and their connection with nature.
Much like he did in the Oscar®-nominated DRIVE MY CAR (CIFF 2021) and the equally magnificent WHEEL OF FORTUNE AND FANTASY (CIFF 2021), Hamaguchi isn't satisfied to tell one side of the story. This complex drama will further audiences' admiration for a director quickly staking his claim to being Japan's finest living filmmaker.
