Single mother Sandra (Léa Seydoux) balances raising her daughter with making regular visits to her father who suffers from a neurodegenerative disease. While trying to secure a decent care home, she reconnects with Clément, a friend she hasn’t seen in several years. Although he is in a relationship, the two begin a passionate affair.
Director Mia Hansen-Løve (BERGMAN ISLAND, CIFF 2021) has crafted a warm, gentle film about the way life pulls us in multiple directions. Seydoux’s performance is so lived-in that you’d be convinced the film was based on elements of her own life. ONE FINE MORNING is an illuminating take on how hope and heartbreak intertwine.
