Formed in 1932, Bradford Movie Makers is one of the oldest amateur filmmaking clubs in the world, but continuing in this day and age is no easy task. To ensure its survival, the group has decided to embark on its most ambitious project yet: to remake a beloved musical. Desperately clinging to their dreams and each other, this group speaks to the escapist dreamer in us all.
A BUNCH OF AMATEURS (winner of the Grand Jury Prize at the Sheffield Doc Fest) is a quietly hilarious, profoundly moving portrait of shared artistic folly. Director Kim Hopkins highlights the need for human beings to spend time together face-to-face in an increasingly lonely digital age.
