When Joy learns she has weeks to live, her estranged children return to do right by the mother who always let them down.
MOTHER'S LITTLE HELPERS is a funny & real dysfunctional-family drama with a BIG CHILL vibe, based on true events and inspired by true lies. Family ties can twist and tear you – and, though they may not break you, they might just send you to jail.
Sadie Pride finds out she’s pregnant the same day she gets a call that her mother, Joy Pride, has weeks to live. Sadie (a successful, happily married photographer) pulls her estranged siblings, Jude (a gay alcoholic Grindr addict living in Sadie’s house by court-order), Julia (an unhappily married born-again Christian housewife) and Lucy (an overachieving medical resident) together for a final act of reluctant goodwill. Side by side they are forced to confront their childhood past as well as the mother they’ve spent most of their lives avoiding.
Now adults, the siblings reconcile with each other, and with their charismatic compulsive liar of a mother. As they work through their memories, each uncovers a few dark family secrets along the way. When Joy Pride is your mom, the truth is just less honest.
