Set in New York's Chinatown, an ornery Chinese grandma goes all in at the casino, landing in the middle of a gang war.
Imagine this: you’re old, but not that old. And even though money is tight, these should be your golden years. But your son has decided that you can’t take care of yourself. That maybe it’s time for you to give up everything - your cozy Chinatown apartment, your comfortable routines, your smoking habit - to move in with him and his family in Brooklyn, where everyone treats you like you're dying and where no one speaks Chinese. You’d be grumpy too.
So Grandma packs her savings into her purse and heads to Foxwoods Casino; with a little luck, she can turn that sparse nest egg into a giant pile of f*** you money and go back to enjoying her golden years. And at first, luck really does seem to be on her side, as she wins round after round at the tables. It’s glorious and exhilarating. Until she loses all of it.
When a bag of money literally falls into her lap on the bus ride home, it seems like fate. In reality, she finds herself smack dab in the middle of a gang war. No problem! She'll just have to use her wit, her bargaining skills, one gigantic bodyguard, and a little luck to get herself out of all this trouble, in first time feature filmmaker Sasie Sealy's exhilarating & hilarious character study.
