Courageous undocumented teenagers allow themselves to be held in a secretive for-profit holding facility in Florida, where they attempt to free fellow detainees.
Detention centres along the southern US border have caught the world’s attention with brutal conditions for detainees and families separated with little recourse. Sadly, this is not a new phenomenon. Back in 2012, two young activists, both undocumented while living in the US, courageously approached guards with an intention to be held for a lack of papers. Their prompt arrest leads them to their goal of embedding themselves in the detention facility and beginning undercover work with their allies in the National Immigration Youth Alliance. Hoping to expose the atrocities and human rights abuses within and free those unjustly incarcerated, their sacrifice is astounding in the face of adversity.
Challenging documentary conventions, this riveting story blends a combination of real footage with dramatized reconstructions that deliver an authentic portrayal of the selfless bravery these activists exhibited in their pursuit for justice.
