Vele's mechanic job doesn’t pay him enough to buy his father's expensive cancer treatment medications. One day, Vele comes across a stash of drugs and takes the package home; having no luck in selling it, in desperation and running out of ideas, he bakes a marijuana cake and makes his father eat a slice regularly. His father, unaware of the cake’s contents, makes a remarkable recovery in a few weeks, surprising everyone - and nobody knows the truth. Soon, the neighbours want the recipe of Vele’s miracle cake and he struggles to keep the secret hidden. To make matters worse, the criminals want their drugs back.
Gjorce Stavreski’s award-winning debut feature is a delicious dark comedy that combines elements of farce and satire as it illustrates the state of the Macedonian health system and the numerous faith healers who attempt to cash in by promising miracle cures. It is also Macedonia's entry to the Academy Awards' Foreign Language Film category!
