Christian, the curator of an art museum, promotes a new installation in the square - creating a great deal of chaos in this surreal satire.
In the aftermath of the abolition of the Monarchy of Sweden, the Stockholm Palace has been converted into an art museum. Christian, a curator at the museum, is recovering from having his phone stolen while also trying to manage a space that will be showing a new installation. Hiring a public relations company to promote it, the situation quickly grows chaotic, resulting in a surreal and satirical look at the world of fine art.
Swedish director Ruben Östlund (FORCE MAJEURE) won a Palme d'Or at Cannes 2017 for THE SQUARE, which was partly inspired by his own experiences at one of his own art installations in the city of Värnamo.
