An intelligent thriller where a construction site security guard becomes witness to an unexpected series of crimes and acts of corruption.
Salvador (Leonardo Alonso) works the night shift as a security guard at a construction site located on the outskirts of Mexico City. One day as he is arriving for work, Salvador finds police present at the construction site inquiring about a van which is part of a crime scene. Salvador honestly tells the police what he knows about the van but his statement is different from that of his co-worker. This causes the police officer to return and further query Salvador. In the meantime, Salvador really wants to leave work early for an important engagement, but his night takes a completely different turn as the construction site becomes a busy hub of activity with unexpected visitors and events, including an on-site theft.
Diego Ros’ striking debut THE NIGHT GUARD is an astute thriller that uses a construction site and the character of Salvador as a means of examining the larger society around the construction site, a society that navigates on a different moral compass than the one Salvador is used to.
