An account of the final years of film and stage star Gloria Grahame, as told by the man who was there for it all, Pete Turner.
From the late 1940s to the late 1950s, starlet Gloria Grahame lit up screens in Hollywood as one of the most recognizable actresses, even winning an Academy Award for the film THE BAD AND THE BEAUTIFUL. But her rise to fame was plagued by scandal, most notably in her personal life - she blazed through four husbands in 15 years and underwent many surgeries in an attempt to keep looking young. One of her lovers from later in life, Pete Turner, weaves the story of her final years and shows the often-forgotten human side of a woman who was one of the first true "movie stars".
FILM STARS DON'T DIE IN LIVERPOOL is the latest from director Paul McGuigan, whose prior credits include LUCKY NUMBER SLEVIN and LUKE CAGE. It stars Academy Award-nominee Annette Bening (AMERICAN BEAUTY), Dame Julie Walters (HARRY POTTER), and BAFTA Award winner Jamie Bell (SNOWPIERCER, DEFIANCE) as Peter Turner. Interestingly, it also features the real Pete Turner in a small cameo role.
