Based on the best-selling novel by Mike Carey, Director Colm McCarthy (PEAKY BLINDERS) helms THE GIRL WITH ALL THE GIFTS, which takes place in a dystopian future where an infectious fungus, known as ophiocordyceps unilateralis, has spread across the planet. Most of humanity has succumbed, and its victims have morphed into flesh-eating monsters called “hungries” who have lost their higher brain function.
At an outpost of one of the heavily guarded camps that the surviving humans reside in for protection, scientist Caroline Caldwell studies a group of hungries who have not only retained their mental abilities but are actually of superior intelligence. She believes they hold the cure for the fungus and that they should be dissected for research. Tensions run high as the clash between "old" humans and these arguably more advanced "monsters" deepens.
