Sangaile, (Julija Steponaityte, from I CHERCHI NELL’ACQUA) a 17-year-old dreamer, wants more than anything to pilot a stunt plane but her fear of heights keeps her on the ground.
Over the summer she and her family stay at their lakeside cottage in the Lithuanian countryside, where Sangaile has the chance to watch an air show.
There, she meets Auste (Aiste Dirziute from MOTERU LAIME), a beautiful local girl who takes a daring and spontaneous approach to life.
The two girls fall head over heels during the fleeting days of summer vacation, sharing the honest vulnerability of first love.
Auste finally teaches Sangaile to truly let go and fly for the first time in her life.
With visually stunning photography by cinematographer Dominique Colin (RUSSIAN DOLLS), writer/director Alante Kavaite’s (FISSURES) second feature THE SUMMER OF SANGAILE is a poetic exploration of young love and yearning, and a celebration of the landscape of northern Europe.
