Director GJ Echternkamp will be in attendance at both screenings!
FRANK AND CINDY is an unconventional, autobiographical dramatization based on the 2007 documentary of the same name.
Filmmaker G.J. Echternkamp tells the stranger-than-fiction true story of his relationship with his parents, mother Cindy and step-father, Frank – a former member of ‘80s one-hit wonder band OXO. Cindy was the ultimate groupie, marrying Frank thinking life would be full of glamorous award shows. Reality, however, is anything but. As Frank’s career fizzles, so does their marriage, and their contentious relationship proves to be endless fodder for fledgling filmmaker Echternkamp’s roving camera.
This fabulously off-kilter film features a phenomenal cast, with Johnny Simmons (THE PERKS OF BEING A WALLFLOWER) perfectly underplaying the aspiring filmmaker who moves back in with parents Frank (Oliver Platt, in a role that goes in numerous unexpected directions) and Cindy (Rene Russo, delivering on her 2014 NIGHTCRAWLER comeback performance with an Oscar-worthy performance here).
