Mark Twain’s iconic characters, Huck Finn and Tom Sawyer, are reimagined in this clever and endlessly inventive modern-day comedic heist film. When Tom Sawyer’s childhood friend Huck Finn is released from jail, Tom – now a police officer – sees the opportunity to bring a group of pals together to form a Robin Hood-inspired gang of thieves. Going after “dirty money” trickling through the local pawn shop, the band plans an elaborate robbery to find a fabled treasure. Between a killer hangover, a new police partner shadowing his every move, and a group of criminals who don’t seem to know the first thing about crime, Tom’s plan does not exactly go off without a hitch. And when the real bad guys get involved, the heist becomes more of a high stakes game than the band of amateur crooks ever bargained for. With the quirky charm and unique perspective of early Wes Anderson, BAND OF ROBBERS is a modern day, comedic adventure written and directed by brothers Aaron and Adam Nee.
