Master director Abel Ferrara teams with French superstar Gérard Depardieu for an imagining of a high profile scandal from 2011.
Mr. Devereaux (Gérard Depardieu) is a powerful French banker with billions of dollars at his command. He arrives in New York looking to blow off some steam, only to end up leaving a swath of moral devastation in his wake. Audacious and controversial, Welcome to New York imagines the very private moments of a very publicly reported 2011 encounter between a high-ranking French official and a New York hotel maid.
Director Abel Ferrara (Bad Lieutenant, King of New York) plays fast and loose with his creative license, painting a grim portrait of power without restraint while Depardieu and veteran actress Jacqueline Bisset are at the top of their game.
