A shave of the goatee changes Louis Ortiz’s life forever.
After nearly three years in the making, filmmaker Ryan Murdock’s debut feature documentary film follows the story of Louis Ortiz’s transformation during President Obama’s first term and the 2012 American election season. Ortiz is a middle-aged, unemployed Puerto Rican father from the Bronx, who shaves his goatee one day in 2008 and realizes he has a very uncanny resemblance to Barack Obama. Seeing the face of change, hope and most importantly money, he becomes a Barack Obama impersonator, chasing an American dream as he tries to cash in on the “look of a lifetime.” Bronx Obama delves deep into the question of what it means to be someone you’re not.
