Father Adam (Andrzej Chyra) is a compassionate and loving priest who just moved to a small Polish parish. He’s quickly welcomed and loved by his new community, but while a dedicated priest, Father Adam struggles with demons that threaten to tear at the fabric of his vows.
Part of Father Adam’s activities in his new community include efforts to reform troubled young men—young men that tempt the priest in a cruel twist of fate. But In the Name Of is far from a political salvo about pedophilia: the men Father Adam struggles with are clearly of age. As Father Adam struggles against his emotions, his newfound friends in the village begin to suspect that their new priest isn’t everything they thought he was.
A pointed drama about sexual desire and repression within the Catholic priesthood, In the Name Of is a close and poignant look at how one balances a truly held faith in conflict with internal feelings of love and desire.
