Murray French (Brendan Gleeson) lives in a small Newfoundland fishing town looking for a new lease on life. Plans for a lucrative factory contract are contingent on the town’s ability to secure a resident doctor—and none have taken a fancy to tiny Tickle Head. Things are looking grim, until disgraced big city doctor Paul Lewis (Taylor Kitsch) finds himself in town, at which point French enlists his neighbours in launching an elaborate ruse to charm him into staying.
Canadian indie film icon Don McKellar (Childstar, Last Night) returns to the director’s chair for The Grand Seduction, teaming up with Michael Dowse (Fubar, Goon), for a remake of Jean Francois-Pouliot’s 2003 film Le Grande Séduction (Seducing Doctor Lewis). Working with a stellar cast that includes Irish heavyweight Gleeson and Canadian film legend Gordon Pinsent, McKellar also snagged blockbuster action star Kitsch and iconic comedian Mary Walsh for this Canadian comedic gem.
The post-screening reception is included in the ticket price.
