Sophie (Marie-Evelyne Lessard) immigrated to Quebec when she was four. Now 25-years-old, she dreams of becoming a director and has recently graduated from film school. When her boss at a travelling amusement park finds out about her film training, he asks her to make a promotional film for the company.
But when she starts shooting, Sophie becomes engrossed, evolving the story from its original intention into something far more personal. Turning the camera on her friends and co-workers, revealing their personalities, their secrets, and their inner lives, soon Sophie becomes the subject of her own film. Through her own documentary process, she uses the film to discuss and cope with a secret she has kept for 20 years. It’s not what her boss asked for, but it’s reality. Fair Sex contains sexual content that may be disturbing for some viewers.
