YOUTH BY YOUTH CINEMA COMPETITION
There's never been a better time to be a young filmmaker. The equipment and editing tools that used to be confined to professionals are more widely available than ever, and the result is a generation of media-savvy writers, actors and directors eager to have their voices heard.
CIFF is truly honoured to be able to offer a forum to these up-and-coming cinematic artists. Open to students at all grade levels from elementary to high school, the Youth by Youth Cinema (YYC) competition is a curated collection of the year's best student films. By giving our young filmmakers a chance to display their work alongside the films of the world's best established and emerging cinematic artists, we hope to encourage them to continue along their creative paths; and at the same time, we hope their unique perspectives and boundless enthusiasm will inspire the rest of us as well.
Please join us after the screening at the Old Spaghetti Factory for a celebration of Calgary's youth artists, and for the presentation of the YYC award as selected by our jury.
