Living in a sleepy Copenhagen suburb, Dennis (Super-heavyweight body builder - Kim Kold) has only ever had one female relationship: with his mother (Elsebeth Steentoft), whose obsessive need for emotional support is increasingly draining. Despite being a hulking mass of tribal-tattooed muscle, Dennis is a polite, deeply shy man whose confidence only shines during his intensive workouts.
After his uncle finds a Thai bride, Dennis risks his mother’s disapproval by leaving for Thailand himself. Instead of a wife, Dennis finds a seedy world of prostitution that sends him even further into himself. It’s only when he meets Toi (Lamaiporn Hougaard), an independent gym owner, that Dennis seems to have found true love, and the inevitable disapproval of his mother. Based on the short film Dennis, Teddy Bear is as surprisingly sweet and delicate as its behemoth star.
