Long coasting on a brilliant early career, Roberto's (Jose Mota) goodwill is running thin. Hiding his financial misfortune from loving wife Luisa (Salma Hayek) can’t last. Roberto is reduced to begging his former bosses for work. Broken, he goes to clear his head at the hotel where the couple honeymooned, only to find its been torn down due to an architectural find.
Before you can say “things couldn't get worse,” an accident leaves Roberto on the ground, an iron spike embedded in his skull. Pinned, unable to be moved without risking death, Roberto's predicament causes a medical frenzy—and allows director Alex de la Iglesia to construct a razor-sharp cultural satire. Seeing an opportunity to provide for his family, Roberto enlists an agent to help cash in on the attention, pitting morality, dignity, fame and greed in a no-holds-barred battle.
