Jason Becker could play the guitar in his sleep — literally. A prodigy in his teens, he took the music industry by storm, eventually beating out guitar veterans to replace Steve Vai in David Lee Roth’s band. When Jason was diagnosed with Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS), he went from rock stardom to full paralysis. At 19, he was given less than five years to live.
Defying his prognosis, Jason has continued to live and make music. Now 43, he composes music using eye movements, working with his family and friends to express his art through technology. A prize-winner and audience favourite at Hot Docs, the Newport Beach Film Festival and more, and featuring interviews with industry heavyweights like Mike Varney and Steve Vai, Jason Becker: Not Dead Yet is the inspiring story of one man’s unshakable dedication to rock and roll.
