Based on the critically acclaimed young adult novel by KL Going and directed by Matthew Lillard (The Descendants, Scooby Doo), Fat Kid Rules the World is a triumphant dramedy about coming out on top when you start at the bottom.
With nothing to live for but the absurd scenes his imagination forces into real life and his addiction to an online role playing game, overweight high schooler Troy (Jacob Wysocki) decides to step in front of a bus. When a spastic schemer named Marcus (Matt O’Leary) swoops in to save Troy’s life (and see if he can spare a couple of bucks), Troy’s life is shoved in a new direction. Suddenly pegged as Marcus’s new drummer for a gig that’s just five weeks away, Troy has a new reason to keep going, all while trying to keep Marcus from destroying his own life.
