Boy meets girl. Boy falls for girl. Girl moves away to become an obscure B-movie actress. Boy tracks girl down to try to prove to his family that Boy isn’t the worthless, ambition-devoid twentysomething Boy appears to be. Such is the story of MOON POINT, a Canadian answer to the recent spate of American indie-comedies, and the second feature from Toronto’s Sean Cisterna. But it’s more than just your average road movie. Between getting shot at and robbed, Darryl (the Boy) and his friend Femur bomb around on an electric wheelchair, are joined by a brassy and eccentric gal they pick up on the way (played by BEING ERICA’s Paula Brancati), track a banana to an AA meeting, and generally getting into antics.
A hero with JUNO’s wit and DON QUIXOTE’s soul, Strozka has the heart to go with the funny bone. A celebration of losers and dreamers, MOON POINT believes that everyone deserves a little love, and maybe even a second chance.
