Director Jesse Cook, Art Hindle, and producer Matt Wiele in attendance!

“What is my purpose on earth?” “Is happiness a realistic goal in a world defined by struggle?” “Could a cyclops beat a werewolf in a fist fight?” These are the questions that give our lives their shape, meaning and direction. And with MONSTER BRAWL, writer/director Jesse T. Cook promises to answer one, if not all, of these existential conundrums.

Lance Henriksen (ALIEN) narrates and Dave Foley (KIDS IN THE HALL) stars as a bitter, drunken play-by-play announcer of a comically nightmarish blood sport. Set against the backdrop of an abandoned graveyard and shot to look like an old school pay-per-view event, MONSTER BRAWL promises mano-a-monster fights to the (un)death between everything from witches to swamp things to zombies. Robert Maillet (SHERLOCK HOLMES) and WWE personality Kevin Nash fill out the bill of this loving send-up of two of the West’s most colourful pop culture spectacles – professional wrestling and monster movies.

Goofy as this is, Cook's no stranger to straight-faced horror, either. SCARCE, his 2008 feature debut (with collaborator John Geddes), followed a group of unlucky snowboarders who were terrorized by cannibals in the dead of a harsh Ontario winter. Applying the razor sharp technical proficiency required to shoot a HOSTEL-style gorefest on a sub-shoestring budget to his quirky side, MONSTER BRAWL is the full realization of this talented young Canadian's promise.
