When he receives a phone call from an ex-girlfriend about a book of poetry she’s releasing, frustrated filmmaker Paul Shepard (Kris Holden-Reid) finally has the hook for his new documentary—an examination of modern relationships. But when it turns out that the book is less about love in general and more about him—and his numerous failings—in particular, Paul shifts the focus of his doc inwards, tracking down his exes to find out what went wrong.
Part HIGH FIDELITY, part THE OFFICE with a dash of SPINAL TAP thrown in for good measure, THE UNTITLED WORK OF PAUL SHEPARD is a mockumentary with genuine heart to go with the genuine laughs. Paul’s journey into romances past will take him to poetry readings and porno sets, but more importantly, it might just give him a chance to step outside himself and see just what the common thread is in all of his failed relationships.
