18A - Violence, Sexual Content, Nudity
Set in Budapest, I AM NOT YOUR FRIEND captures the familiar feeling of a city that is smaller than it seems. An intricately woven story of nine different thirtysomethings tangled in a complicated web of relationships, the film demonstrates how everyone is related to one another in more ways than they would care to know. Though they start the film as strangers, one by one their paths cross and the deception, cheating, lying, passion and revenge that each one is experiencing becomes more clear.
Director György Pálfi (HUKKLE, TAXIDERMIA) took a dramatically different approach to the filming of I AM NOT YOUR FRIEND. By requiring improvisation from the amateur actors, co-directors, writers and four cinematographers, he has made a smart, edgy, raw, dark comedy that is informed by the actors’ reactions and ideas.
